One of the challenges with orthodontic devices like braces is that it’s not always easy to use them discreetly. Clear aligners solve that challenge.
With Simply Clear Aligners, your child gets an effective alternative to traditional metal braces. The aligners fit over their teeth tightly and will move their teeth gradually into the correct position over time.
At Simply Southern Smiles Orthodontics, we provide custom-made, clear aligners for kids across Statesville, NC to help get their teeth in place and ensure a healthier smile.
Can Children Get Simply Clear Aligners?
Children aged seven and above can get Simply Clear Aligners. In our experience, children often have some of the best results with aligners because their teeth and jaws are still developing and, thus, more malleable.
Simply Clear Aligners give your child the opportunity to develop an aesthetically pleasing set of permanent teeth and a gorgeous smile.
However, since aligners like Simply Clear Aligners are easy to remove, you may need to work a bit harder to help your child cultivate the disciplines required to wear the aligners for as long as needed. Generally, aligners need to stay on for 22 hours per day to deliver the desired results.
What Is the Difference Between Simply Clear Aligners for Children and Invisalign®?
The major difference between Simply Clear Aligners for kids and Invisalign is the brand names and the aligner materials used. In terms of functionality, they are essentially the same, although Simply Clear Aligners is more affordable than Invisalign.
Simply Clear Aligners is our in-house aligner option made right here in our office in Statesville, NC. After your child begins treatment, Dr. Woods will take their iTero® scan and begin crafting their clear aligners. Once he’s finished, you can retrieve them from our office and your child can begin treatment.
What Are the Differences Between Simply Clear Aligners and Braces?
We’ll cover the key differences between Simply Clear Aligners and braces here:
Appearance and Feel
Simply Clear Aligners are invisible, one-piece units, while braces feature wires, brackets, molar bands, ligatures, and so on. Even clear (ceramic) braces sit on the teeth more conspicuously compared to Simply Clear Aligners. Similarly, it’s hard not to notice the feel of braces while Simply Clear Aligners fit snugly, making you almost forget they are even there.
Flexibility
Traditional braces must remain in place for the treatment duration once fixed, and your child will also need an appointment to get them removed. On the other hand, it’s easy to remove Simply Clear Aligners during meals or while brushing and flossing. Therefore, your child can eat whatever they want with aligners, while there’s a long list of foods to avoid with braces to prevent damage to wires and brackets.
Maintenance
Braces make brushing and flossing more difficult, and your child will have to spend a lot more time getting out all plaque and food particles. Simply Clear Aligners don’t interfere with your oral hygiene. Cleaning the device itself is as simple as brushing lightly and rinsing.
How Should My Child Care for Simply Clear Aligners?
Caring for Simply Clear Aligners is straightforward. All your child has to do is scrub the front and back of the aligners with a soft-bristle brush and rinse it with warm water to get rid of harmful bacteria and food particles. Be sure to store the aligner in a protective case when not in use instead of leaving it out in the open.
How Can I Ensure My Child Is Wearing Their Aligners?
Getting your child to wear their aligners regularly might feel like an arduous task, but it is doable. The first step is to talk to the child about the importance of orthodontic treatment and allay any fears.
Explain well ahead of time what they should expect every step of the way. Most importantly, show them the benefits of completing the treatment. Use before and after images to help them understand the efficacy of the process.
At Simply Southern Smiles Orthodontics, we’ll also explain the process to your child during the initial consultation and answer any questions they might have. Dr. Woods has had outstanding success getting children to buy into the process of orthodontic treatment by using clear aligners for kids.
Once they start wearing the aligners, help them keep their eyes on the prize.
Simply Southern Smiles is proud to serve families in Statesville, NC, bringing permanent healthier smiles to children. We know your child’s oral health is important to you, which is why we put so much effort into delivering satisfactory outcomes.
